On Tuesday, RB had as guests Camilla Batmanghelidjh, the founder of Kids Company charity, followed by Hulk Hogan.

Cam Bat was trying to explain the deprivation, physically and emotionally, some of these kids live in.
Whilst making great efforts to condone the actions carried out by the rioters, she was trying to help people understand how this could come about.

The audience seemed to round on her as a woolly liberal.

She was followed by Hulk Hogan who said he wanted to to come on and say words to the effect of:-
'These kids need a smack down'.

But to his credit what he ended up saying was:-
'that lady was right, nobody is listening to these kids'.

It makes for interesting listening, I highly recommend.

Anyone attempting to explain the reasons behind things is branded a whooly liberal. Asking question and listening to what people have to say is apparently handwringing. That said it is (imho) preferable to knee jerk reaction which is the branding of the tory right.

The riots have nothing to do with poverty. It has everything to do with jealousy and some people believing thay have a 'right' all consumable goods.

Anyone attempting to explain the reasons why these things are against our society is branded a fascist. Asking question and listening to what people have to say is apparently police loving. That said it is (imho) preferable to knee jerk reaction which is the branding of the politically correct leftys.

Almost like politically branding peoples ideas is an utter load of bullshit?

But all I did was quote your chest thumping and twist it around? Are you telling me you think your quote was bullshit? Interesting.

But that is only 1 small sub plot of a wider social breakdown, brought on by generations of people basic physical and emotional needs not being met.
The point Camilla Batmanghelidjh was making (to paraphrase) was:-

'What can you expect from a second generation child of a drug addict/prostitute/abusive parent living in squalor, sleeping on a mattress in a condemned room'. 'If you have nothing to lose, you have everything to gain'.

It is a thought provoking interview juxtaposed with Hulk Hogan!

Aren't we lucky there wasn't such a deep hatred of everything society in the years after WW2? We wouldn't have a country left if those kids decided to loot, rob, maim and burn.

My knee jerk reaction to the last few days is the same as many 'string'um up'.
I really pleased the Manchester courts are being so hard on the offenders.

To me there's a high percentage a scummy chancers that have jumped onto this to fill there boots (WW2 spivs, if you like).

But it also has highlighted an under class that have been failed by their parents, society, fallen through all the safety nets because they don't/can't vote.
These people, the knife wielding scurge of inner city life, will not get 'better' on their own and will just perpetuate the vile scenes unless something positive is done.
