I never really got keen on Bottom but the Young Ones was totally fantastic as I said previously.
It really is very funny and was a great platform for the youth of the time.
I always remember, very nostalgically, my mum saying it's not funny they shout all the time and I just used to say "listen" it really is what I feel and think, get a grip the youth are fed up with Thatcher.
Very political at times but hit the nail on the head as well.
Was great at the time but it looks terrible and unfunny if you watch it now. Young ones is timeless. Bottom was the same without the political references to "THATCH".
Totally agree with you Beach. I was 8-10 when they first came out. My mum banned me from watching them. So after school we'd all go round to my mates house 2 doors up and they had a Video. So my mates older brother used to tape them right, so we'd watch them there anyway. Which brings me to "Ohh have we got a Video?"
Neil " I've told him we haven't got a telly and thats thrown him a bit, but it won't hold him forever!"
TV Detector man " We know you've got a telly cause we detected it!"
Neil "oh, so you were like playing with me all along"
TVDM "yeah ofcourse, Bastards the name, but you can call me right bleeding, all my friends do."
TVDM goes into house, "Oh that old trick eh? eat the telly before I get to nick ya" "Well I know how to wait, and when that telly comes out the other end, Your nicked!"
Sam, get hold of some Monty Python. The original offbeat wacky TV series. The Ministry Of Silly Walks - will never be equalled. The Lumberjack sketch. The Dead Parrot skit. Hell's Grannies. Upperclass Twit Of The Year. The Piranha Brothers. The Mason Sketch. Spam. The Cheese Shop Vignette. The Funniest Joke Ever Written.
Harry Enfield is not fit to scrub Python's underpants.
Albeit Harry Enfield created some very funny characters:
Loads of money, nice but dim Tim, that Barmen I forget his name, the Considerably Rich Man, Mr Grayson and Nicey and Smashie - don't knock them they were very funny.
