Relegated clubs could sue Man Utd...

It has been reported in various papers that Middlesborough, Sunderland and Newcastle are investigating the possibility of sueing Manchester United if Fergie fields a weakened team and Hull stay up as a result.

I think this is pathetic and useless. Manchester United have won the right to rest players for the European cup final and Newcastle, Middlesborough and Sunderland have all had 37 other chances to pick up the points they need to escape relegation.

What are NSC's thoughts?

If true, then what a ridiculous state of affairs! Its not MU's fault that Sunderland, 'boro and newcastle have been utter, utter turd all season is it?

It won't happen though.

It's all crap anyway, even if they field their best XI, they are hardly likely to wanna risk any 50/50 challenges for fear of injury. Mind you, United could probably pass the ball into the back of the net against Hull, no matter what XI they field.

Five Live made the fair points this morning that:
– some of these so-called Man U reserves may be at maximum fitness, eager and chomping at the bit to prove themselves and maybe even make the bench for Rome, wheras some of the 'name' stars may be knackered, and more concerned at not getting injured prior to Rome. So who'd be more up for it anyway?
– Hull would probably kill to have any of these so-called reserves in their starting 11, so who has the right to dub them sub-standard for the match?

Not a United apologist, but their so-called 'weakened' team would sort out the bottom three easily anyway. The reason that there at the bottom has nothing to do with Man Utd - just that they've been sh*t most of the season.
