Paul Reid is hoping to earn himself a long-term deal with Brighton & Hove Albion by performing well in the play-offs.
The Australian midfielder arrived from Bradford City in March and has since played five times as the Seagulls finished fourth in Nationwide Division Two.
With his contract due to expire at the end of the season, Reid hopes to give himself the best possible chance of staying at the club by performing at his peak in the play-off semi-final against Swindon Town.
"At the moment I'm concentrating on staying in the team and hopefully getting Brighton into Division One but I would love to stay at the club," he said.
"Ever since I've been down here I've had a good feeling about Brighton.
"The players are a great bunch of lads and the weather's much better than in Yorkshire - it's like being back in Australia."
