RECESSION OVER FOR BATTERED BRITAIN - City AM

Remember before ?

All the mud slung Labours direction you can't deny how well we've coped with the GLOBAL recession. It is easy to knock the government but on the whole since Labour came in in 97 the country has come on leaps and bounds. Yes things have been out of their hands with the recession but we don't know how good we've got it until that blue lot come back in and really f*** it up again. Seems to be fashinable to moan and groan about the government but anyone who thinks it would be better under the conseratives is totally deluded

Good to see house prices on the up for the 3rd month in a row as well.

That's great news - try telling it to the 3 million unemployed... or the graduates too young to count as unemployed, or the over 60's too old to count as unemployed, but all still in desparate need of a decent job.

Oh yeah, and I guess now we'd better start thinking about paying back the £1,340,000,000,000 we are in debt as a nation as a result of Gordon Brown's mismanagement over recent years.

Excuse me for not getting too excited about this 'news' :nono:

Reports I read yesterday state that taxes will have to go up dramatically, doesn't really matter who wins the next election, we'll be paying for the last few months of bail-outs for years to come :censored:

This year funding the National Debt will cost approx £36,000,000,000 in interest payments alone... making it the fourth largest 'Government department' after Social Security, Health and Education.

That money can only come from TAX and it will need to be even more next year, the year after and for at least 10 years after that.

Nice work, Gordon :nono:

This is just the money which was printed getting into the flow of spending. This is by far not over.

Companys still going out of business - banks having no money to leand. Bankrupt public finances.

Yes. Well done Labour.

Ha Ha!

You must have selective memory.

The "Global" recession was worse here than most places BECAUSE Labour have wasted money over the good years, failed to control our banks, and have tried to buy there way out of their mess with our money - and our granchildren will be paying for their cock-ups.

Whoopee-doo, the economy is not shrinking as fast as it was. The country is still stuffed and it's going to take until 2032 to put the govt finances back in order - and every taxpayer in the UK will be paying through the nose to do so.

This year, the government will effectively take out an £8500 loan on behalf of each and every taxpayer in the country that we will have to pay back. Then next year they will take out another £6K loan for each taxpayer, and the same after that, etc etc.

This will restrict investment, growth, govt services, consumer spending and all that good stuff that Gordy took for granted whilst he spunked away billions of quid.

This is a gross simplification of UK govt finances, but it helps make the example of just how screwed the country is. UK residents had better get used to paying a f*** load more tax, and get reduced public services at the same time. Nice.

House prices on the up? Wait and see what happens when people's disposable incomes shrink still further through taxation.

Dont forget the extra tax the rich will have to pay (50% business), yeah lets tax them even more so they have less money to spend.

Has there ever been a more stupid Government?

With the top rate of income tax going up to 50% it wont make any difference as the vast majority of high earners will still exploit the loopholes to avoid paying virtually no tax at all.

The worst thing about that is that they just move their money and assets around to avoid paying the extra tax, or just move themselves abroad altogether and the Government loses out on the tax they were paying.

Bright as a button our ex-Chancellor come un-elected Prime Minister

When the Tories removed the 60p tax band in the 80's, the tax take went UP something like £4Bn (can't remember the exact number)
