Reasons for not going to Scumhurst ?

1) I'm broke – my girlfriend's currently out of work so one salary is supporting both of us.

2) Being herded in totally the wrong direction (for me) for hours wasn't fun last time, and it'll be even worse if they try and do it again at 10pm on a weekday. Even if I escape the cordon it's going to be a long trip home, on my own.

3) Whisper it quietly, but I don't think our chances of a result are that good.

So am I going?

Hell yes.

Not having the money strikes me as a perfectly reasonable excuse. You might well be minted Drips, but not all of us are.

Not at all mate. I aint going to the Norwich game cause I cant afford it but at the end of the day its Norwich and this is Palace.
Different ball game

Young Simster makes a very valid point. I am going to palace BTW

Priorities do change in life and football does not become as appealing the older you get ( cue Yorkie having an apoplectic fit)

Up until last year, Laura and I used to go together, but she has moved on, so to speak and I have no-one really to go with to away games, therefore I look at games and think..." I can't really be arsed.."

A few years ago, I hardly missed a game in a season, now I pick and chose which games I want to go to.

Palace is expensive but I am going with Papa Laz, Smiley Miley, Rusco, etc etc so there is people to go with, Leeds was cheaper, but I would have gone on my own so It was a non starter

Harsh, but reality I am afraid

I'd love to know how you think I would react to things Dave.

The reason I enjoy football so much now is because after I got married I couldn't go to many games. Maybe one or two a season if I was really lucky.
I'm making up for lost time (ok second childhood if you like)
I'm going to Selhurst because I haven't been before. Some things as an Albion fan just have to be done.
Whether I would go again (at that price and the attitude of the police) is a different matter.

Block Z too.

I'm going, only a youngster so need to go, missed all the classics!

Dad, Aunt and Nan aren't going though - and who can blame them. We drove to the game last time, my nan had to walk all the way to the train station was in the opposite direction to our car! We were not allowed out - and then had to walk all the way back. Thats not on. An 80 year old lady is hardly going to be challenging the Palace massive with her baseball bat. The police were a complete and utter joke.

I'm worried about this one too - special trains to Brighton? I bet they force me on to it? Actually, officer, I live in Southampton..

I’ve heard some piss poor excuses for not travelling, like its ?0 & the OB are too rough sob sob...
WTF is the matter with ya?
Its palace, the closest team to us & our biggest rivals.
Id rather not see our following 5 games than miss this one

There are only 3 reasons for not travelling to the Theatre of Sainsbury’s trolleys

1) A death in the family.
2) Serious illness in the family
3) You live abroad

That’s it,
Unless you can convince me differently.

Lets sell the place out, are we a big club or not?

Yap, I’ve been drinking :drink: but I had to get this off my chest.

Simster is right. Whatever way you slice it, £30 is a COMPLETE rip-off to go to a dump like Selhurst and be treated like a PoW. I could afford it if I really wanted to go, but I know it'll be a totally shit night, that would only be partly alleviated if we win.

Nope, I'll go down the pub with a few mates, keep an earpiece to the commentary, and celebrate/commiserate accordingly. Those who are going - ENJOY (but I don't envy you).

Could not have put it better myself. Yes Palarse are the closest team but are not a team I would want to pay to watch and the stadium is not all that either. Would rather save the pennies for the likes of Wolves and Southampton.
