Stompond Lane has hardly changed over the years. Last time I went there a few years back, their Manager was some bloke called John Crumplin. There was a wooden bench between the running track and the pitch - Whether its Cloughie's bench, who knows?

Thanks as ever GR. I'm slightly too young to remember it. I wonder if the Dave Bassett in the home side is he of the splendid managerial career up the road at Wimbledon.

When the Walton and Hersham boss Allen Batsford left, he raided his old club for some of its players, such as Donaldson and Bassett, and so they ended up at Wimbledon for this famous cup tie with Leeds a few years later:
