This. What's described in the petition doesn't sound very nice, but how is it different to most other kind of animal farming? You could even argue that it's not as bad, because even though they're badly treated, these puppies don't for the most part end up getting slaughtered I assume.

Impaired immune systems
Painful diseases requiring costly treatment
Shorter life spans
Poor socialisation leading to behavioural issues

This things don't matter so much when you roast them.

Even if you don't care about animal welfare, at least you could sign to stop being getting inferior product.

Chickens and puppies?

Two policies in Chateau Imp:

1. Try to buy meat in a butchers shop but if using a supermarket ALWAYS pay extra for the premium or organic brands (a small and inadequate gesture but better than nothing).

2. If buying a puppy (because, for example, your last rescue dog was a disaster) then spend hours researching the kennels and buy only with all the paperwork and the mother present. And again, spend more than the minimum.

I'm afraid that as owners of a heavily-used bird table we don't have a policy regarding the welfare of cats.
