Only the old 60GB ones can as they effectively have a PS2 inside. The later ones don't have the EE and GS inside which helped bring the price down.
I have one of these and I have to say it is IMHO the dogs wotsits but really not worth playing ps2 games on it at all, they were great back in the day but do show their age now especially on a big LCD tv. Had my ps3 for 3 1/2 years and the only problem I had was the blu ray drive failed in April but £90 repair and all is well. Had a 360 previously and find the comments about which one has the "better" controller quite funny

The only reason I have a PS3 is for the blu ray.
Of course, the best gaming console with multiplayer and modding is OBVIOUSLY a computer! Upgradeable, customizable, graphics can shit all over console ones if you get the right rig. Granted it costs more but it also has more options. And you know, is a computer.
