October 21st run-out for Pro Evolution Soccer 5

Konami of Europe has confirmed the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of the eagerly-awaited Pro Evolution Soccer 5 will be released on October 21st, with the PC-DVD version to follow a week later. The PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) version will be released in November.

Recognised as the most realistic football series across all its formats, Pro Evolution Soccer 5 enjoys a number of key additions over its predecessors. More licensed clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Porto and Celtic join its impressive team rosters, while all versions feature online play. Up to four players can compete online in two-against-two matches, via each machine's networking capabilities. The PSP version can also facilitate two-player matches via the system's wireless connectivity.

Pro Evolution Soccer 5's much heralded gameplay has also been refined, with more emphasis on total ball control and the physical nature of football. As such, players battle for every ball and have total control over the passes, through balls and quick interchanges they have at their disposal. Coupled with much improved goalkeeper AI, more instinctive shooting and fantastic off-the-ball runs by other players, and it combines to create a major advance in football simulations.

The UK version of the game features a specially shot cover showing Chelsea and England's John Terry face-to-face with Thierry Henry, the world-renowned Arsenal and France striker. Both players are huge fans of the game, with Terry commenting: "I've been a massive fan of Pro Evolution Soccer for years now and I am really pleased to be able to work with the talented people behind such a fantastic game."

Henry, who also appeared on last year's Pro Evolution Soccer 4 packshot, agrees: "It was great to be the face of such a realistic and engrossing football title, so I was delighted to return for the newest version."

Pro Evolution Soccer 5 will also be supported at launch by an official player's guide published by Konami of Europe in cooperation with Europe's leading official strategy guide creator Piggyback Interactive Limitged. This lavishly-illustrated book features 238 pages detailing all the intricacies, moves and gameplay tricks and techniques available to the player, and has been produced in conjunction with the Pro Evolution Soccer 5 development team.

"Pro Evolution Soccer 5 is a remarkable title and one of Konami's most proud achievements", commented Kunio Neo, President for Konami of Europe. "We are delighted to confirm its definite release date so that fans of football and the series can start counting down to the new Pro Evolution Soccer season."
