Hi Guys - can anybody tell me if this is a good deal or not. My employer is offering Private medical insurance at annual costs of

Me only: free (automatic)
me plus wife: £488
family cover: £732

Things are pretty tight for us but i know that PMI is a valuable thing to have. Would I be a fool to say no to the Family cover at that price?

It all depends what level of cover you are getting.

I have PMI for me through work and limited cover for dependents but it did'nt cover things like physio for them unless you beefed it up.

Ask your wife if she plans to be sick at all, over the next year.

i pay about 400 quid a year through work for family cover and it's repaid itself may times over - any referrals and you get seen pretty much immediately at goring hall hospital which have been fantastic so far

Looks a good price. Missus and I pay £250 per Month but we are in our 60's. It's been a real help recently as we both have needed surgery in the past two years and getting quick access and the private facilties has been great, plus we have not clogged up the NHS.

Used to have free family health cover through my last employer.

When I was made redundant in January, it cost £140 a month or £1680 pa for me & the missus to continue without a break ( if it was a "new" plan, previous medical history would not be covered ! )

So it looks good value at £400 a year for a spouse !
