While reading the Mail on Sunday article, I came across their previous article on Poyet; a piece only 26 months ago describing how Poyet 'will be lucky to get the opportunity to take charge of a Championship club.'

Whoever wrote that I imagine is about 3 or so months away from having egg crisply fried on his face.

So...it's a 'great article' when the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday features a nice piece about Gus/The Albion (see other thread), and it's a shitrag with all the other usual cliched bollocks when there is anything bad written about aforementioned Uruguayan God/God's own team. That is pathetic.

It's some combination of thin-skinned chippiness, rose-tinted glasses and hypocrisy. And what's with the 'only 26 months ago'? That's a lifetime in football management, all sorts of things can go right or wrong in that time.

What about the reality that, err, you are as likely to find a good football piece in the Mail as any other paper. Does anyone actually remember the coverage of the Man City cup win? The Mail shat on everyone else for two days, not least because the guy that wrote it all (Neil Ashton, now at the NoWorld) is a Palace fan and got more than others why it was so newsworthy.

Pretty much in agreement with the above, except this guy has made himself look a bit of a pratt, all be it 26 months later. Maybe he was the guy that turned the Beatles down for a recording contract in the 60's. And as someone else pointed out it did almost look personal. But yeah, plenty of rose tinted glasses flying about the thread.
