YESS!!
Apart from the last stages of the game we can't really say we deserved to win, but how good is it to win when not playing great and finally end our October hoodoo!
Leeds started well and pretty much bossed the first-half and probably should have lead at half-time, how Wood missed his free header from six yards out is unbelievable. We scored with our first attack of the game, great ball from Kayal, who I thought was over-run in the midfield today, to play in March who had a delightful low finish across the goalkeeper. Defending for their equaliser was poor and we let the centre half run free in the box who glanced his header past Stockdale. We then had a great chance at the other end where Rosenior teed up Stephens but his lacklustre shot was straight at the keeper, would have been a pretty similar goal to the one he scored up at Bolton a few weeks ago. After that it was pretty much all Leeds going in to the break, they had the fight and battle in the middle of the field where as we seemed to lack any composure. Pleasing to go in at half time level.
Second half and one key decision by Hughton to bring on Crofts and play with five in midfield and we finally got a foot hold on the game. March switched from the left to the right but this decision is rather baffling considering Solly does not use his right foot and looked to cut inside at every opportunity. Uwe and Dunk were a solid unit together in the second half and Wood was barely getting anything from them, Leeds then rather strangely took off their liveliest player in their number 20 who look dangerous on the ball and the majority of their forward play came through him.
Buckley then came on and got booed by quite a few which majority of fans found baffling, do these fickle fans not remember the goals he scored and the points he won us? However he didn't really do much and I can't really remember him touching the ball too many times. Key change was to bring on Zamora for the poor Hemed as usually Hughton brings on Ince to shore up the midfield. Great through ball from Bong to Bobby and the finish was delightful much to delight of the Albion fans who went delirious. Another key moment was Leeds losing their centre half through a bad looking injury, with him still on the field I don't think we'd have got the winner. Happy days!
One negative I suppose without sounding too harsh today has to be our support, we made little to no noise from when Leeds equalised up until Bobby scored, maybe the fans were nervous today or maybe it was the performance. Can't say I remember us being so quiet away from home for such a long period. However, after the goal it was non-stop noise.
On to Bristol City midweek, potential banana skin but hopefully a better performance will see us get all 3 points.
