A few of the "chants" posted in this thread have already been sung this season, definetley the E-I-E-I-E-I-O one and a fair few more.

Not having ago or a personal attack or anything but how old are you PalG? If you're under 15 then I can understand your posts.

Song for Falmer

Without doubt we will and should always come out to good old sussex by the sea, perhaps jazzed up a little, but for the first few games, this could be class.

Open up the URL, close your eyes and think of this bellowing out at Falmer after the mileage we have done

Can we sing 'Brighton - The Anthem' by Terry Garoghan? To the tune of 'Bright Eyes'

Brighton, dead handy for London,
Brighton, Crawley is not too far,
And everyone sleeps with everyone,
But there's nowhere to park your car,
Brighton.

Also, thought the Huddersfield fans were good today. They sung 'Anarchy in the UK' and 'All creation' that FC United sing, sounded good with the acoustics of the stadium.

Just heard Johnny Wakefield! The song is called Where Seagulls fly. That would sound good at Falmer.

Ok then. How about this, to the tune of "Dirty Old Town" by The Pogues (and others no doubt!):

We made our name,
In the football game,
In Hove Town,
At The Goldstone Ground,
For a hundred years,
Could be heard our cheers,
In Hove Town,
At The Goldstone Ground.

Then one day,
Came along our way,
A greedy man,
With a dirty plan,
He stole our home,
Forced us all to roam,
To a dirty run down,
Dreary Kent town.

So we battled away,
For a brighter day,
Til at last we found,
A temp'rary new ground,
We played in shade,
For a whole decade,
Waiting around,
For a permanent ground.

The years slipped by,
We could almost cry,
We wanted a yes,
But got so much less,
Until at last,
The final hurdle was passed,
To build a new ground,
On the edge of the town.

So now our fame,
In the football game,
Is our renown,
In the fight for a ground
For a hundred years,
You will hear our cheers,
In our shiny new ground,
Our beautiful ground.

All these massively long songs with loads of verses may work at places like Liverpool, but it'll take years before they get adopted.. as someone already said, if we can't get people to sing Sussex by the Sea properly - which is truly unique to us - what chance of anything else taking off?

Still, it's fun writing them so here's a few which I can confidently predict will never catch on but never mind:

(the elephants go in 2 by 2)
Opponents whinge he is a cheat, Poyet, Poyet
Don't listen to those losers bleat, Poyet, Poyet
They're just sick they can't get the ball
With Gus in charge we can beat them all
Gustavo Poyet, his football is sublime.....

(I have seen the glory..)
The Goldstone Ground was rocking in the days of Peter Ward
And we'd have won the FA Cup if only Smith had scored
Archer tried to kill our club but we put him to the sword
And the stripes go marching on...glory, glory Brighton Hove Albion etc

(Robin Hood, Robin Hood)
Calderon, Calderon running down the wing,
Calderon, Calderon, no-one can stop him,
Bored at the back
Always in attack
Cal-der-on, Cal-der-on, Cal-de-ron..

(Go West)
Poyet - he's from Uruguay
Poyet - he's a super guy
Poyet - making our dreams come true
Poyet - we're going up with you

(can't take my eyes off of you)
In-i-go Calderon, we've done geography
Don't say he's Spanish, he's from the Basque Country
Inigo Calderon, trust in us when we say...

Wherever you are from, we love you all the same
Inigo Calderon, a star in every game
So come on Calde... score for us today...

Proper songs you think would be great adapted to a CHANT

For ages I have been thinking we should ditch the normal football tunes and adopt a couple of unused proper songs.

With Mr N Cook in mind, maybe a Housemartins classic (Join the Caravan of Gus?).

I also think that the swing classic Beyond The Sea would sound FANTASTIC sung really slowly by a football crowd. It is MADE for the Albion that one.

And The Buzzcocks' Ever Fallen In Love With Someone (You Shouldn't've Fallen In Love With)? would be a dapper footer song.

Ideas anyone? Anything to stop the tired out ALBIIIIIIIIOONS...
