Kuipers 5 - Kicking Terrible, nothing else to do.
Calderon 8 - Looking a very good signing, and a great full back for this division.
Virgo 8 - Made some great tackles and won a fair amount of headers.
Elphick 7 - Made some good headers, solid enough. Fortunate with some "hoof balls"
Painter 7 - Again, looks a good signing, and some good deliveries with the left foot.
Bennett 6 - Just about okay. Still lacking form IMO.
Crofts 6 - Average.
Navarro 6 - Average.
Carole 1 - Nice back heel in the second half.
Holroyd 7 - Worked hard, and probably should have scored.
Dickinson 6 - Not as good as Saturday, infact a lot worse.

Murray 8 - Touch looked good, didn't look to be carrying a knock. Also looked to link up well with Hollroyd.
Dicker 6 - Didn't get into the game, that said, if Carole starts ahead of him on Saturday, I will be out of the Withdean quicker than Kuipers can slice a back bass from Elphick into touch.

The outstanding players were:

Virgo who made 3 excellent blocks in dangerous situations and read the play very well

Crofts who was everywhere, won almost everything in the air in midfield which is amazing for a small bloke and always breaking up play looking to get forward.

Holroyd who showed good pace, vision, touch and just about most things you want from a classy striker.

The rubbish player on the pitch was Carole - an absolute waste of time and he should be allowed to leave now.

The second most rubbish player was Dickinson - won next to nothing in the air (hardly surprising as he seldom challenged for anything) and spent too much time trying to back into players.

The team selection wasn't my cup of tea and I still think Harty should be given a real chance - if he had played instead of Carole - with 2 strikers to deliver the ball into from wide - let him show what he did last season when he was magnificent setting up goals from either wing - give the bloke a chance.

Just me that didn't think Calderon was great then.

Bennett was quiet but his dead balls seemed to of improved ten fold

Carole - dear oh dear , absolute shite

Crofts - won a lot in midfiled

Hoyroyd - absolute brilliant debut, deserved a goal

Dickinson - Shite , comedy game

Murray - Looks like he wants it again

Virgo - Fantastic

Elphick - average , does some f***ing stupid balls too often

Painter - Looks to be getting fitter, better to come I suspect


Overall Poyet tried to mix it up and surely Cox for Carole was the obvious change. Very good 2nd half and we won't go down playing like that regardless of the stats. Lets have 2 wingers v Norwich and have a go. Should be good saturday, no one expects to much but I think we can do it.

Kuipers 6 Nothing to do good length with kicks need to improve direction.
Calderon 7 Poyet's best signing
Virgo 8 MOM without his timely tackles we would have lost heavily
Elphick 6 Steady performance nothing exceptionally good or bad.
Painter 6 Reliable defensively but puffed a bit towards the end due to t 2 games ion a few days probably.
Bennett 6 Some good runs end product not good enough for long enough
Croft 6 Very workmanlike should ghet forward more
Navarro 6 Good anchor role in midfield gets through a lot of work that is not acknowledged.
Carole 4 Generally poor
Dickenson 4 Did not hold the ball up at all and poor performance compared to Saturday.
Holdroyd 6 Poor first half looked lost could not read the game much improved 2nd half.
Will reserve judgement until he has played a few more games as to whether or not he is the answer as a goalscorer as he didnt show many signs in this game.

Subs:

Murray 7 Showed that he is the only person liable to score for us and shouldnt have been dropped.
Dicker 6 Great improvement on the left when he came on.

Team Overall 6 Looked solid in defence but played to narrow with Bennett not exploiy
ting the wings enough to stretch Huddersfield. Didnt look like we would score until Murray came on, which is very worrying.

Thought Virgo and Calderon and Navarro were great...Murray changed things when he came on
Dickinson is he a striker?...doesn't look like one at the moment
Bennett....didn't really notice him
Carole...what a waste....in the 2nd half he was forced back from the udders pen area to the halfway line
Holroyd..seemed to react to the pass in the 1st half rather than make the runs req improved a little in the 2nd....
