Course Im going on the commentary but wasnt it Orlandis great pass that led to the penalty and didnt he put us through again a little later? He was non-existent first half I know but thought he improved in the second.

Any news on injuries?.... was Bruno a serious hamstring or just precaution?

It did look preventative to me, though he wasn't getting forwards as much late on in the 2nd half. I think he hammed it up a bit to waste time when walking off

Kucsczack - 8- no real saves of note but commanded area really well. And it's nice to know we can pass it back to a keeper who is confident on the ball
Bruno -8- broke up play well and gave 100%
El Abd - 6- always looked like he was going to give away a penalty
Greer -6- looked shakey at the back
Bridge -5- probably his worst game for us so far. Iwelumo kept peeling onto him as he knew he could beat him in the air. Is heading Bridges weakness??
Bridcutt -7- last 30 mins game was bypassing him
Hammond -4- missed two sitters and looks slow
Dicker -5- passing was awful! Game bypassed him
Orlandi -5- needs to move a lot more to help out team mates. All left footed
Buckley -7- Watford couldn't live with him and resorted to fouling
CMS -7 - ran his socks off. Took penalty well

Barnes -7- came on defended and tracked back well. Good in the air
Dobbie -5- couldn't hold anything up to give defence rest bit
Calde - not on long enough

We didn't play great last night but I would say there are a number of really harsh marks in there. El Abd and Greer played well and Bridge was behind most of our attacks in the first half along with Buckley. Hammond wasn't our worst player and 4 is really harsh in my view and Orlandi, although he didn't do a great deal, did provide the ball for CMS to win the penalty (as someone mentions earlier in the thread).

El Abd and Greer 6?? They kept us in the game, don't think they could have done much more!

Agreed. Ridiculously low assesments.

El Abd 7
Greer 8

El Abd did struggle with Iwelumo at the start. Then Greer swapped with him, and things started turning in our favour.

I am very confused by the markings for Gary Dicker in particlar but also Orlandi.
Are Dickers marks based on last nights performance or previous ones?

Thanks for posting for those of us who did not / could not go

With the exception of the pass for the goal Orlandi did very little and if anything offered only marginally more than Harley does at times in terms of fight. It was a night where we needed determination and strength, I'm afraid he doesn't have those characteristics and is more about flair.

Although Dicker has started the season relatively well, last night he frequently lost possession, pushed up to an extent where it caused the team to lose its shape and was generally out muscled. Again, he just wasn't at the races last night.

Average rating:

El Abd 7.70
Kuszczak 7.63
Mackail-Smith 7.34
Buckley 7.32
Greer 7.11
Bridge 6.86
Bruno 6.84
Bridcutt 6.61
Hammond 6.14
Dicker 5.86
Orlandi 5.32

Subs
Calderon 6.67
Barnes 6.13
Dobbie 5.08

Team average: 6.61

Unless specified, I won't award points for players who played less than 10mins. i.e. if someone says Calderon 6, I'll mark it, if someone says "subs 6" or "everyone (else) 6", I'll leave Calderon blank.

With the exception of the most important thing that happened all night Orlandi did very little and if anything offered only marginally more than Harley does at times in terms of fight. It was a night where if all we'd had was determination and strength we wouldn't have won, he doesn't have those characteristics and is more about flair which is what won us the penalty and the game.

Just corrected for accuracy.

How the average rating of CMS comes out more than Buckley is beyond me.

totally, squandered 2 great chances, but ran around alot and smacked home the pen!!! Not his best performance, if only he could show more composure on the ball rather than trying to do everything at 500 miles an hour, hed be very special.

Thought buckley, greer, el abd were best 3 we had. Buckley wins mom for me, a REAL threat at all times.

I really don't get 6's for the back four, a clean sheet under a lot of presure from a busy Watford side, surely a minimum 7 for all. Actually I'd mark Bridge higher as he and Buckley are forging and great undetsnading in attack.

The only real weak link was Orlandi but it's early days.

I'd mark all sevens with the exception of Bridge 8 and Orlandi 6.

CMS worked his socks off as usual but needs to make the keeper work, shots off target are unforgiveable especially the one on one in the second half.

Overall a seven.
