Couldn't see a thread, so here goes...

Kuipers - 6 - Didn't have all that much to do.

Whing - 7 - Typical Whingy performance.
Virgo - 6 - Decent enough, needs to stop this hoof ball nonsense.
Elphick - 7 - Solid, looking more like the Elphick from last season.
Borrowdale - 7 - Cracking cross for the goal, good defensively

Loft - 6 - Had an average game IMO, not a lot to talk about.
Fraser - 6 - Loses the ball too often, some decent play.
Dicker - 6 - Still haven't made my mind up about him.
Cox - 8 MOM - Brilliant 2nd half, and dare I say it, some decent corners.

Owusu - 7 - Lovely header for the goal.
Hart - 7 - Worked his socks off, nice to see him back.

Andrew - 6 - Wanted the ball, some nice flick ons.
Davies - 6 - One decent chance at the end, but looked hungry for it.
El-Abd - N/A - Come on late.

Anyone else?! Coxy said in the post match interview that Slade had made him do LOADS of work on set pieces.

about bloody time, over the last few seasons our set pieces have been fcuking awful, most of the time not getting past the first defender

Abort, retry, fail
Strange choice of comparison.

The practice is the same. If Cox is able to work harder on his set pieces, why was he not able to do that before? I can't imagine that they are training for 8 hours a day/5 days a week. I would imagine it is certainly much less than many other professional/amateur athletes.

If you add one mark on to everyone you would have my ratings, especially for the second half.

As said before I don't agree with all this 'Virgo shouldn't hoof it' nonsense. I feel much more comfortable with a centre-half who has limited ability on the ball, clearing it when in doubt, rather than dwelling on it and getting caught.

The second half team performance today was one of the best of the season in my opinion. We dominated completely and I don't think 3-0 would have flattered us.

Why did he not do that himself beforehand? Beckham used to stay late and spend much of his time trying to perfect his set pieces.

If you get to hear an interview with Man U players from that era, they say Beckham used to stay for hours after training and practice free kicks. Apparently Ronaldo does it as well. Players don't get that good by accident.

Pretty much sums it up for me today

It was lovely to watch that second half performance today. Superb scenes at the end too when the whole team came over to applaud us. Davies & Cox giving their shirts away and Russell Slade showing some real passion. :yahoo:

FDM 6.5: One excellent save in the first half at the feet of a striker, lots of rather embarrassing time wasting in the first half. Nothing to do in second half.
Whing 7: Same old reliable Whingy.
Elphick 6.5: Won a lot in the air, not convinced that he and Virgo are a good partnership as both lack pace.
Virgo 6: Again good in the air, distribution dodgy, looks very slow.
Cox 7: Anonymous in first half, a revelation in the second.
Dicker 7: Very tidy, does all the donkey work very well quietly and efficiently
Loft 7: The only midfield player to support the strikers, bit of a headless chicken at times but chased everything.
Fraser 5: Tucked in far too much, to the extent that we only ever used 2/3 of the width of the pitch, at times there was no one within 30 yards of the right touchline when we had possession and were looking for options.
Owusu 6: Well taken goal, other than that struggled to impose himself, tended to be too distant from OGH for them to look a good partnership
OGH 7.5: A pest, constantly harrassed the Colchester defenders, never gave up.

Subs:
Andrew 7: For those who say that loan players don't try, the sight of him diving full length for a header with a centre half's boot inches away would prove them wrong.
Davies 7: Really made a nuisance of himself, the pace of Andrew and Davies made life very difficult for Colchester when they came on, lightning fast, and threw his shirt into the crowd at the end to cause some of the female fans to moisten themselves when they saw his torso
Bomber 5: Not on long enough to judge.
