A v Longford when the match was abandoned for constant violent tackles! The players walked off at Adams insitance, something happened and next thing all the players were running and it ended up in a big melee!

We retired to the bar not knowing what was going on! The rest of the tour was scraped and we havent been back to Ireland since!

Longford Town v Brighton, 2001
This pre-season friendly proved anything but as three sendings-off and several punch-ups prompted Brighton boss Mickey Adams to take his team off and abandon the game and the rest of the club's Irish tour shortly before half-time.

The match was level at 1-1 and Brighton had just been reduced to nine men when Adams hauled his players from the heated fray.

Rating: Light-heavyweight.

This is more info on it from the BBC site

Brighton's tour of Ireland came to an abrupt end when a mass brawl broke out in a friendly against Longford Town.
Boss Micky Adams took his players off the pitch and later cancelled their next friendly against Athlone.

Adams' decision to take his players off the field during a violent clash with Longford Town has been labelled "a joke" by the chairman of the Irish side.

Adams' decision followed a host of violent incidents on the pitch which led to three players being sent-off.

The match was level at 1-1 before half-time and Brighton had been reduced to nine men just before the interval when Adams called an end to the game.

But Longford chairman Adrian Kenny believes it is Adams' side who must take responsibility for the trouble.

"To blame his actions on the safety of his players is a joke," said Kenny.

"We are very annoyed because they were to blame. They were the ones coming in with late tackles. It was the most unfriendliest of friendlies."

There were several punch-ups which at one stage involved most of the players.

Albion midfielder Charlie Oatway and Longford's Alan Murphey were both shown red cards after clashing, Steve Melton also walking for the Seagulls.

Brighton's tour of Ireland had already been hit with with the disappointment of a surprise 1-0 loss to Sligo Rovers in their previous outing.

"I think they tried to take that defeat out on us," continued Duncan. "They definitely had some pressure on themselves."

Duncan said: "We've picked up a couple of injuries from the game and it's probably a good thing we didn't play the second half because there would probably have been more casualties.

"But hopefully this will all blow over and their won't be any hard feelings."

Stan Collymore got slapped from Andy Todd.

Andy Todd is mental.............He kicked the living daylights out of Dean Keily when they were both at Charlton. It happened during training..............ended up breaking his nose and knocking a couple of his teeth out !!!

Its just a shame he never trained with us when Leon Knight was here !@@!

The only other one that springs to mind is the Steve Jacobs sending off after some handbags and gladrags but I have conveniently forgotten who it was against.

Anyone else have memories of the Jacobs debacle and indeed anyother famous player disagreements involving the Albion?

Stve Jacobs was sent off against Oxford United in the Oxfordshire Benevolend Cup at the old Manor Ground for whacking John Aldridge senseless. It happenend just in front off the dug outs and i was sitting in the main stand just behind them.
He hit Aldridge with a series of blows and recieved a straight RED.
For the record we won the cup on penalties.
