I do that too. And if theres no paper towels I try to wait until someone else leaves and follow them out the door, thereby being able to negotiate the doors using my feet and elbows.

Paper towels are a necessity for negotiating taps as well.

At work we've got both a hand drier and paper towels. I much prefer paper towels. The only trouble is that they let some fancy designer loose on our new building (well, it was new in March when we moved in), and he put in integrated bins in the wall, which have so little room in them that the paper towels by midday. And, more stupidly, they have put in only cubicles in the Gents, so they can be easily converted to Ladies. A complete waste of water every time you go for a slash, when urinals could be easily boxed in.
