Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed striker Michael Owen will move to Real Madrid.

The deal is believed to involve Liverpool receiving £8m for Owen plus midfielder Antonio Nunez from Real.

"When I arrived here the problem of the situation was Michael had 14 months on his contract to run," said Benitez.

"I now have three strikers. It's bad that Michael's gone but we have three very good forwards and I'll be looking for a solution in the future."

Absolutely. If England are to progress beyond perennial underachievers our best players need to be playing for top european sides such as Madrid. Not running you're arse of for some bag of shit who can't string two passes together!
