'Can I get a houmus and gouda sarnie please?'

'Can I get it in a ciabatta?'

'Can I get some lettuce, onion and a bit of beetroot in there please?'

'Oooh can I get some back pepper please?'

I can see his face now.

No, I wouldn't.

'GET' OUT!

"At the end of the day" , "To be honest" and "Basically".

i.e.

"Basically Harty, Mayo was rubbish to be honest. At the end of the day he's got to go..."

my bad (what a stupid expression)

Actually if you really don't know it's an Americanism and means 'Am I bad' when used in an ironic sense. Another one that's starting creep into our vocabulary is something or someone being 'so' someting. Like 'So not tired' or 'So not good'. It's not unusual for Americans to make a simple situation or saying more long winded, 'Colateral Damage' meaning Bomb damage is an example.

'OWT'
As in those northern tosspots who like saying:

"I didn't do owt."
"I didn't see owt"

Presumably its a shortened version of "NOWT", which is a shortened, bastardised version of "NOTHING". In which case, they are also using it as a double-negative.

Speak properly you bunch of thick northern gimps. No wonder you're all unemployed.

"I can't do anything with that, it's HUGE."

Tch, the times I've heard women say that, it just drives me mad.

No. Owt is the opposite of nowt.
Owt is anything - nowt is nothing.

'Get.'

As in, 'can I get a ham and cheese sandwich please?'

No f***ing illiterate cretin. The word is 'have, not 'get'. Moron.

They say that in Canada.........I asked my Brother in law who lives there why.

He thinks its because when you say "have" they think you mean for free rather than paying for it.

northern tosspots.....A term employed by igniorant southern jessies who have never spent more than an occasional few days vacation or business trip north of watford and therefore are uninformed about the subject matter on which they speak.

My thoughts exactly. Although I was initally disappointed about breaking up with my girlfriend from the north, I was consolde by the fact that if I were to marry a southern girl, they wouldn't speak the peasant language the northeners use.

There's another one that I don't think I've heard here but often in the US. The words 'Please and 'Thank you' tebd to be used sparingly in the US, they tend say I 'need' as in 'I need a burger' when addressing the person serving and so on.

Bloody rude I think, how hard is it to say 'Please could I have' ?
