It says here that our academy isnt FA approved !!!!?





Tonight’s opponents Brighton, unlike Chelsea, do not run an FA-approved Academy. The south-coast club are however riding high in their Football League Youth Alliance South-East Combination table — leading clubs like Portsmouth and QPR.

Gosh! How do you get approval and does that mean they give you funding?

Or have we got some slave labour camp going....

I think you have to have the whole indoor pool with the undercurrant water jets, an indoor full size sand based pitch etc to get approval.

When we built Thorp Arch there was a big thing about including those things to get the FA approval.

Academy status costs a lot in terms of infrastructure and facilitys so its not likely in the future and many clubs don't see much of a return. Hinsh and Wilkins must be doing a great job, we beat a decent Brentford side away 9-0 last week.

Incidentally, how much more do you think the average wage would be for the Chelsea youth players? Roughly......

As we don't have an Academy how can the F.A. approve it?

Just Chelsea having a little dig!

However, our Centre of Excellence will almost certainly be F.A. approved and is probably one of the best in the country which is why clubs like Everton and Villa are always snooping around for our young players.

Chelsea certainly rated it when they played our youth team in Sky's Football Icon program.
