No - i'm a bathroom/shower installer, and sometime's have to use Nirmal for safety checks etc on Combi's. If he can't help out, then he'll tell you and not rip you off.
He's based in Mitcham-ish way, and i know doesn't like to travel North (to virglo in Highbury) but give him a call and see.
Say David from Flujo reccomended you.

As I said before, all you need to do is adjust the water pressure. Think it is just a case of adjusting the stop cock ( or something like that ). It is probably to do with the piping and not the actual boiler. Deffo try it first as it will asve you a lot of money if I am right and lets face it, I usually am:lolol: :lolol:

It's definately not the water pressure. If the noise is present when the heating is on then that rules out the mains pressure and if the system pressure was too high (which it isn't) then that would be very unlikely to cause noise problems.
If it occurs with both heating and hot water then it will be something common to the operation of both. It will most likely be the fan or pump but could be overheating in the heat exchanger.
Ravenheat boilers are shite by the way. I know it's too late for you but anyone reading this I would advise paying the extra for a decent make.

It sounds also like:

you have loose piping around your house, this can be easiliy fixed
with your water pressure dropping, you obviously have a leak in your pipework, that needs to be found.

If Rowdey man doesn't turn up, still stick with a Corgi man and make sure he fills in your inventory that comes with the boiler.

Just make sure you stay in for the 'boiler repair man' yourself, and don't leave your missus there on her own. I've seen those films - "I've come to fixsh your boiler".:D

I have got a number for the plumber who fitted my boiler. He was really good and is actually doing another job for a friend of mine at the moment, so can really recommend him if you like. All thanks to NSC!!

Rowdey, you're a star mate, thanks. Nirmal is sending one of his chaps round on Friday afternoon to check it out. His firm are in my area that day anyway - I actually live in Woolwich, SE London atm. £70 call-out charge for the first hour, but he thinks he knows what it might be - gas valve - so says he should be able to fix it in that time.

Fingers crossed

Company such as Vaillaint charge £70 for their call out and annual check, so relaitively for london, that not too bad, let us know how it goes.

Will do, thanks LC. Good to hear that £70 is about right, though it's made me realise I'm in the wrong bloody profession :lolol:

Sweet.
(You know how you reccomend someone, and there's no historical reason at all to suddenly become worried, in case they do a shit job just this one time, but you still do......)

Sure it will be cool, especially as he's already pretty much identified the problem.

£70 call out for a Corgi registered person; think that pretty good - i'm £45 as a regular plumber.

Hmm... well as far as I'm concerned, it was a complete waste of time. Nirmal from Megaheat turned up three hours early on Friday, so I was out, so we rescheduled for next day. Said he had to do the school run ???

Rescheduling was not really a problem. Trouble was when the bloke (not sure if it was Nirmal, this dude was more middle-aged) arrived the next day, I paid £70 only to be told that the boiler seemed to be in tip-top condition and he had no idea what was causing the noise. Was told that I should speak to a specialist engineer from Ravenheat themselves, as they might know what was what.

I had a bloke round fitting SKY + at the same time, so I couldn't keep an eye on both, but he said he'd serviced the boiler at the same time and he had various theories about what might be wrong (the noise is coming from the reverse valve, apparently), but he couldn't understand why the cold tap affected the noise. All i ever saw him do was peer into the boiler's guts with a torch, not sure what a 'service' actually entails.

The noise has actually got worse since he visited, so am not a happy man, unfortunately, though at least he was 'honest' enough not to charge me a fortune for something that didn't actually need doing.

Bloody boilers, I hate them
