they do a street festival in Cologne as well- think Lewes Bonfire Night meets Chucking out time in West Street Brighton..

loads of beer, fireworks, costumes, gory makeup.. and thats just the police!

I visited a mate who was working in Germany a few years back- it was all a good well mannered laugh, though a tad nippy. rather bizarre seeing other peopl in similar wizard outfits (this was beforeharry potter came out!), on the tube..
