Ankergran, Ankergran
Hes Brightons Number 1
Oh Casper Ankergran.

(To tune of Celery, Celery. Not sure of the original song)

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Tony Bloom can make this world seem right.
Tony Bloom can make this darkness bright.
Only Bloom and Bloom alone can thrill me...

Only you - the Platters

There they were.
Blue and white.
It was love, at first sight.
Stood in the north stand,
Cheering them on.
Albion

She's the one - Robbie Williams

obviously we have to pronounce Poyet correctly

I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright

I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
They're looking for a little romance, given half a chance

I have never seen that suit you're wearing
Or the highlights in your head that catch your eyes I have been blind

Gustavo Poyet is dancing with me cheek to cheek
There's nobody here, it's just you and me, It's where I wanna be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never for get, the way you look tonight

I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing

I've never seen so many people want to be there by your side
And when you turned to me and smiled, It took my breath away

I have never had such a feeling
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight

Gustavo Poyet is dancing with me cheek to cheek
There's nobody here, it's just you and me, It's where I wanna be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never for get, the way you look tonight

The way you look tonight
I never will forget, the way you look tonight
Gustavo Poyet

My dad ALWAYS sings those words. He hates that people sing the wrong version.
He's obviously an old bastard like me. I've raised this point before and the general view amongst the younger fans seems to be "yeah we know 'going up to win the cup' doesn't make any sense, but it's what we've been brought up to sing (since 1983) and we can't change now."

Maybe there's hope yet, although personally I'd like to see the real words ('tell them all that we stand or fall') sung.

Yes. On a related point I was REALLY pleased that the opera singer on Saturday sang "Going up and we'll win the cup". My campaign is gaining momentum.

You obviously haven't noticed the bit on the concourse where the words "And we're going up TO win the Cup" have been printed then. Think it is alongside the legends wall or something, I cant remember. I thought of you as soon as I saw it though.

We've come a long long way together, through the hard times and the good. We have to celebrate our glory, we have to praise you Tony Bloom, we have to praise you Tony Bloom.
We come a long long way together, from the Goldstone to Falmer, we have to celebrate our glory, we have to praise you Tony Bloom, we have to praise you Tony Bloom.

All round the fields of Falmer Road
Where we watch the King Smithy play (and can he play!)
Kazenga on the wing
We have dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Falmer Road

It would be brilliant to sing something to that tune, but I think that is a bit too Liverpool to sing a general song, if that makes sense. It could be done about a player though.

I suggest adapting the bounce song (Calvin Harris) lots of la la la's and instead of bounce insert SEA and then the next time GULLS, the SEA and GULLS can be sung deep (like the SEA SEA SEA in the new song).

Well I think it would sound quite good.

Does anyone remember the old North Stand clapping "song"

it went

clap-clap clap-clap clap-clap-clap-clap-clap
clap-clap clap-clap clap-clap-clap-clap-clap
(quite a few times - till someone started on the Ohhh)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
(for quite a long time with everyone joining in)
then back to
clap-clap clap-clap clap-clap-clap-clap-clap
clap-clap clap-clap clap-clap-clap-clap-clap

and repeat. I used to love that. sometimes the clapping went on for longer sometimes the Ohhhhhhhhh went on for ages.

So simple - and made a real noise.

I think, rather than a song (though we do need something new), we need some kind of Galatasary-esque chant that can just go on and on. Songs just seem to get through a single chorus after and are finished after about 20 seconds... we need something to lift the roof off the Amex and really create some atmosphere.

Both of these ^^^^.

I've always been most impressed by the stuff that just goes on and on and on, particularly if the level falls back significantly and suddenly rises up to a massive crescendo. When that happens, as an opposing fan it's always a case of "Blimey - that was impressive - where the hell did that come from?"

Or a players name with just one syllable, like Greer. Really need one for the skipper.

I think a lot of the suggestions are too complex.

You need a song with a simple well known hook, as few notes and key changes as possible. That's why go west spawnedso many football chants. Complex songs won't take off in a terrace environment without being rehersed.
