Perceived bad luck of leaving Christmas decorations up after Twelfth Night (or What You Will) dates back to Cromwellian England. Cromwell didn't so much ban Christmas but wanted people to embrace for the birth of Jesus and not (even in those days) just drink, eat and be merry. He banned all celebration, other than worship of the birth of Jesus . Those who chose to almost surreptitiously continue celebrating as they had previously, were sure to stop by Twelfth Night to avoid being caught.

NSC is in no way anything like the dark ages of Cromwell's England!!!!
