Was at my boys under 12 footy game today and the opposing coach/manager kept urging his boys on, and every time they had a throw in in our half kept shouting "you can't be offside from a throw in"

i thought you could , any referee types here who can clarify the rule ?

Just as easy ask on a football forum ?
Oh silly me for asking a football related question, on a football discussion board but a suppose it is a bit rare on here at the moment to talk football,
Ie "what is you fav" over and over again
and talk of films and all the other crap topics.

As told to me by a well known now Ex Ref the FL have told refs to ignore foul throws unless they are obvious or givea team an advantage because they hold up play. Please note the goon in the North Stand who keeps shouting foul throw.

Somebody needs to explain this to Glenn Murray as he always drifts into an offside position.

A little lesser known one, you also cannot be off-side from a goal kick - the dead ball type, not the type from the hands, which in Kuipers case usually ends up sliced to the right and out of play without reaching the half way line on one of the smallest pitches in the world -Phew:p

You don't sit anywhere in block E do you? A muppet behind me has been known to shout offside when the guy has received it direct from throwin! Just for the record (because I don't think the muppet behind me knows), you cannot be offside from a corner or a goal kick.

It does amaze me how many people who go to football do not know the basic offside rules (although granted it has been complicated in recent times).

(sorry, just seen Mr Burn's post)
