The spoil on the pitch is going down nicely, being loaded onto the lorries every 15 mins or so.

agreed when that is gone it will look so much better! and soon enough pitch sowing will begin

I think they then have to remove a foot or two of the existing pitch level to incorporate the drainage, undersoil heating and then new topsoil before they start sowing. Wouldn't think it will look green until Feb/March depending on the weather.

Don't think it will be sown until March, so you'll be looking at April I would think before it starts getting green.
JS or NJ will have to camp there to get a photo of the very first blade breaking the surface.
