O/T Politically will it be 1992 all over again?

Dandyman,you've lost me!!

The point I was trying to make was that there are a very large number of private companies who rely on public sector contracts for business. Consider for example how much of the MOD budget keeps ship building and engineering companies going, how much money local authority repairs expenditure provides for building firms, the benefits for IT, office supplies, and a myriad of other firms from public expenditure.

I do question my political judgement/allegiances at times. Usually when reading that people like HB&B support the same party as me.

I think ROSM has got it pretty much spot on. There are huge swathes of people who are not voting Tory because of Cameron. Rather - let's get anyone but Brown in.

I hope, I really really hope that if there is a Tory government with a decent 40+ majority at the next election that they finally lay to rest the ghost of Thatcherism and return to their One-Nation Conservatism roots. If only Iain Macleod hadn't popped his clogs, he could have been PM in the 70s, you know. There was a great and principled Tory.

I hate to be the one that says it but Cameron in power will show he belongs to the hard right. The MacLeod/SuperMac type of Tory was created out of two World Wars and a massive depression and at least had some understanding of everyday life. The Likes of Cameron could n't give a f*ck about ordinary people.

These days One Nation Tories probably belong in the Lib Dems.

There are hard decisions to be made in politics and sometimes there are certain folk who will suffer. Its the compassion you show when you have to make those decisions and the softening of that blow that dictates a caring government IMO.
Thatchers response of 'hard luck' made her a cruel so-and-so in my book.
I drove through South Wales last year and saw all the deserted and derelict housing from the miners villages and it brought it all back to me of just what a callous government that really was in the eighties.

Can't agree.Except for the super rich who because of their wealth are basically untouched by politics of either of the main parties, the rest of us are 'ordinary people.'The super rich don't give a toss who is in power...they don't have to.Any party who does not broadly occupy the middle ground these days is dead in the water!
Goodnight all...going to watch Simon King's prog on BBC2,then the lovely Emilia Fox in Silent Witness!!::p

What is there to suss out about David Cameron? Cameron is an ex public school boy of the highest order this country has had its foundations built on confidence inspiring leaders like him. Cameron has an air of super authority about him and a delicious ability to debate his point with sincerity and abundant charisma.
.

After reading your boring blog a couple of times, I would never have believed you had such brilliant satire in you. Bravo

There was point in the 1992 election campaign that most political commentators were saying Major could do nothing to win, then Kinnock had that rally at Sheffield and the Sun election day front cover and it all turned on its head.

There's near on a million Labour voters who stayed at home on poll day following B.Liar's illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq. They'll be back this time. Just needs the Tory vote to not be arsed on the day and Brown could nick it

"What is there to suss out about David Cameron? He is the Prime Minister elect he will sweep into power in May or June rather like Thatcher did in 1979 I would expect to see either Liam Fox or Francis Maude given a prominent position within the next cabinet to bolster Cameron's foothold from within. I cannot see Labour in power again for 25 years or so. Cameron is an ex public school boy of the highest order this country has had its foundations built on confidence inspiring leaders like him. Rather than dour,r stammering face contorting Scotsmen who have almost proved them self remedial in their political knowledge and that are almost ridiculed and certainly manipulated by the worlds other super powers. Cameron has an air of super authority about him and a delicious ability to debate his point with sincerity and abundant charisma."Quoted by Hove inbred

And his wife is the daughter of an Earl and I suspect the pair of them would never pass the time of day with an odious peasant such as yourself.

conveniently forgetting all those around Blair could have stopped him but no one had the bollocks to step up. you have to almost admire Blairs leadership abilities, apparently bringing everyone in to line despite them all be opposed. :glare:

B.Liar never brought the Labour voters into line. They just withheld their vote.

Every Labour MP who went along with the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq has blood on their hands cos they all KNEW that c unt was lying through their teeth. But B.Liar forced them into that corner and much as ever single one of them cannot be proud of that charade and will have to live with it for the rest of their lives, they are still the least worst of a dreadful bunch. IMHO, like.

This just confirms my earlier deliberations.

Wanking off your social climbing asperations in Hove Brigand Club is a long way from social acceptance in the Bullingdon.

yes, Blair forced all those little sheep cabinet members, ministers and MPs into a corner. none of them could do anything about it. you can believe that, or face the possibility that many supported him and the war for their own ends. or looked at from the other way, they are so spineless that none of them could standup or fall on their sword. the others are worse?

Were you serving drinks or looking after his coat?

I was delivering a speech on the importance of reestablishing conservatism to the younger generation of the electorate in Hove.

For twelve years Hove has been blighted by having a socialist member. Just look at what has happened in that time, it ain't good.
