Really don't understand what all the fuss is about. BGT and all other variations are about making money - finding the next quick buck and moving on. This is how it is and how it will alway be. It is a 'contest' but within a 'controllable' environment. Don't forget, more controversy means more chatter means more press means more chatter means more watching means more advertising revenue etc.
Bottom line is, enjoy it for what it is rather than for what it says it is - a contest to find the best money making vehicle for the next six months.

Because people innocently enter the competition and vote in the competition assuming it is fair and nothing underhand is going on.

But surely there has been so much press about these programmes over the past few year that there must be fewer and fewer who believe that it is anything other than a money making machine?

As it happened I agreed with the winner. They will now be able to pull out of the Ronan Parke allegations witha certain amount of dignity. Thought it was wronmg to announce the 10th , 9th 8th etc placing should just have said Michael Collins ypou are not in the top 3 Ronan Parke you are in the top 3 Steve Evans you are not in the top 3 etc, to finish up with the top 3. Very humiliating for the lower placed entrants being told they were 10th or 9th.

Well you would though wouldn't you after the power and might of the record companies and their legal teams started rounding on you. It's taken quite a while for him to do so, which is probably about the time it takes for the legals to get to such a stage that both sides agree the best way out is if the author retracts everything saying it was a "lie".
Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. but it got the coverage it did because it just said out loud, and in detail, many of teh things we've all thought about these shows.
