I was on the verge of getting broadband, but before doing so I decided to give onspeed.com a trial. It costs £2 per month and has probably sped up my downloads by up to 4-5 times. I'm sure that it's still slower than broadband, but it is a cheap alternative, and is much quicker than standard dialup.
It takes just a few minutes to download the necessary software.
I've heard about Onspeed and apparently it speeds up Broadband a fair bit too? I would be interested to know if anyone can confirm the improvements.
If it works, it's got to be good for £25 a year.
