This thread is an ill conceived cluster f***. This should be either sci fi tv series only or sci fi films.

The replies are showing up so many classics overlooked on the voting page and the thread starter should hang their head in shame.

May I add Andromeda as well as agreeing with Babylon 5, Lost in Space and may I suggest that all the variants of Star Trek get a seperate billing, i.e. Next Generation,Deepspace 9 and Voyager ?

I know it's a cartoon, but it's a Sci-Fi Series.

Jeez where are you going to stop with all the sci fi stuff that's been around?
You could ask where's
Marine Boy.
Fireball XL5.
Gigantor.
The Jetsons.
The Clangers.
Button Moon.

Well if Babylon 5's in there I'm fooking having The Clangers

I thought it was a fun idea spoiled by too many taking things a tad too seriously.

I loved Blake's 7 at the time but watching the occasional re-run the sets are wobbly and th whole thing is f***ing hammy

Can someone PLEASE explain the appeal of Doctor Who to me?

The acting is always below soap opera standard (and that's saying something) and the set/effects/monsters look ridiculously low budget.

I voted for Star Wars on the basis it was the animated series The Clone Wars. Lots of series have been left off the list including BSG and Terminator:SCC.

QUINTESSENTIAL Britishness.

Longest running sci fi series in the world.

First of its kind anywhere (tho the Quatermass series did provide inspiration)

The ability to create a story about anything, anywhere at anytime.

Kids love it (then those kids become adults and love it still)

OK, give the poll over the weekend for more votes, the worst five will be eliminated and Star Wars will not be included to maintain consistenty, and the real proper voting will begin on Monday.

This vote is strictly TV, so if anyone wants to make a film poll later in a few weeks, go ahead as Star Wars will be replaced.

I did say it is the best sci-fi that NSC chooses and all your considerations will be considered.

Can't believe Farscape is gonna be eliminated before Stargate! Stargate is a rip off from Farscape for christ, Farscape is serialised while SG1 is just utter gash and you dont need to watch it from the beginning to understand whats going on

Get your nominations in quick over the weekend!

The best nominations (most popular, most viewed etc) will be included in the round of voting. Also, Doctor Who and Buffy will remain, but their spin-off's will be seperated as individual nominations.

Voting starts Monday morning.

Dr Who and spin offs by a country mile. Pity Lost in Space and Red Dwarf aren't in the frame as well and I think that calling "LOM" science fiction is stretching things a bit. Psychological fantasy p'raps???
