1 Get the season to start.
2 Provide an arse wiping service.
3 It might be worth considering having 2 accounts for moderators? This would allow them to have an opinion and for sensitive souls to then put that account on ignore, appreciate this might be a bit of a pain for people giving up their valuable time.

If Watford Zero or anyone else is annoying put him/them on ignore.
If there is too much politics, ignore all the obvious threads.

There’s also the option, at the top, of Albion only threads.

Totally flabbergasted by the quote in the OP , yes it has 1 or 2 points (ok, 1 - NSC is dominated by a number of ridiculously prolific, opinionated, posters). Why do some people feel that they have to voice there opinion on everything?
But then i read on and it deteriorated into right wing bias bullshit...

I'd also dispute that its politics aren't aligned with the average Albion supporter. We're a city with two Labour and one Green MP, I'd agree that left of centre views are probably slightly more popular on NSC but I'd say that's pretty representative of the fan-base. But it's also fairly moderated and there's no suggestion that right wing views are being silenced.

I'm not sure why we're not Premier League standard. I haven't seen a league table of football fans forums for some time, but last I looked NSC was pretty near the top.

I think it's pretty good TBH. We cover a wide range of subjects, we don't ban away supporters - in fact, encourage them and there are lively posts. It's also a great information source: if I wanted to find a butcher in Blubberhouses or the best plum brandy I could buy in Uzbekistan, there's probably someone on NSC who knows.
See there you go assuming all of us are from or live in the "city", typical myopic view. I would suggest a high percentage of Brighton fans have never resided in the area.

I would add I believe NSC has a broad section of views and beliefs. Some just keep their views to themselves, others though like to promote their views. Sometimes as we all know empty vessels make the most noise.

The OP seems to have two issues.

1) NSC is too left-wing.
Steer clear of the political threads, if they make you unhappy. Surely it's that simple? There's plenty going on NSC that has nothing to do with politics. I dip into the Trump thread now and again just for the LOLs, but otherwise don't bother with the discussions that are political.

2) NSC is 'county league' standard when everything else about BHAFC is Premier League.
Not sure entirely what this means, but personally I don't want some corporate polished site that's commercially produced and run. NSC has been around for longer than the club's been in the PL – it goes back to our days stuck at the very bottom of the entire football league – and it'll still be around if we one day end up heading back there. It's not a fit-for-PL-only thing, and I'm not sure we want to ditch it for something that 'is'. It's kind of like the difference between an official programme and a fanzine, and NSC is very much the latter. (Or 'watching the match-build up on Sky' vs 'meeting mates in the pub before kick-off', if the fanzine analogy is redundant in today's digital world).

I think 2) was just a poor analogy based on incorrect perception of moderating decisions and not everyone agreeing with everything cjd thinks.

Max 200 words a day from any user.
N.
10 is too few in my opinion but a configurable number of posts allowed per day and a shorter max post length would be welcome IMO. I'd add the proviso that if people were being quoted, replied to or mentioned after they'd exceeded the max and it looked like the interlocutor was aware I'd consider that trolling.
5 an hour? 😬

Improve the search function as I cannot be bothered to try to find a post from years ago in order to prove a point.

Unlike some posters who have either got a magic touch or too much time on their hands!

To be honest I don't think much needs changing. Like you say the opinion that it is too right or left wing is solely down to the person saying it. The ignore thread thread option has been a godsend imho. Keep on keeping on I say. No one is forced to be a member, read posts, or participate here.
This. As you say the 'Ignore Thread' function is brilliant.

I can't think of anything to make NSC better, whereas I can think of lots of ways to make it worse. (Separate forums for example). In the same vein I wouldn't like to see limits on post length or number allowed per day, sometimes posts need to be long.

The only thing perhaps, and this puts a burden on the mods, is to stop the same people having exactly the same arguments but on different threads. Thread bans are another good feature.

As an aside: 'twas ever thus. I've been posting on NSC since 1999, and in 2000 I think I saw the first thread entitled 'NSC isn't what it used to be'. And yes, it was the off-season.

I have found the 'Ignore Thread' to really improve my NSC experience.
I have never blocked any individuals, but by filtering out numerous incidental threads that I have no interest in has certainly made things more enjoyable for me.

I spend far too much time looking at NSC and if for some reason I can't view it for a day or two it becomes a guilty pleasure catching up on all things Brighton.

Twitter is now a cesspit and Facebook I find the information very shallow.

NSC is my go to for Albion gossip and breaking news even though 75% of the rumours turn out to be rubbish.
But it's entertaining trying to work out what rumours might or might not have any substance to them.

No, not all are from B&H but most are. And where else? Mid-Sussex, Lewes, Eastbourne - all Lib Dem, or Worthing with two Labour MPs. As I said, the slightly left of centre nature of NSC reflects the fan base

Just far enough away from LDC
Ever since one of (i think Chappers') photos ended up on my Internet history and found by my son who then showed my wife leading to a long conversation that nsc isn't always 'like that' I am just grateful that I can read and sometimes participate in a wide-ranging forum that is almost as good as mumsnet for getting the zeitgeist

So no dwarf porn please @El Presidente

Oh and we need a Meat Up with people wearing T shirts with their username on

I'd honestly just look at ways to curb extensive and annoying over-verbosity and let Bozza set the parameters.

They should be easily changeable, however. The example I'd give to support that is lockdown. During Covid everyone posted more as they couldn't travel or go out and everyone had an opinion on the lockdown, and later on the football when it restarted, as every game was televised or easily streamed.
