both Average tracks, neither of which are Old Skool.

Can we have an experts definition please Barnet?

I thought old skool was boom boom boom (no boom), instead of boom boom boom boom. Am I along the right lines? Or am I prize plonker? And I agree both tracks are average. I much preferred Rez (Res?) if we're talking Underworld.

I agree with Barnet, both very average and I would say the definition Oldskool was at least pre 94. Rez kicks Born Slippys arse anyway.

Where was Mentasm on the list? and Dominator?

Born Slippy. Recent memories, singing 'Braga, Braga, Braga...'

And that bit appears where?

UNDERWORLD LYRICS

"Born Slippy"

Drive boy dog boy
Dirty numb angel boy
In the doorway boy
She was a lipstick boy
She was a beautiful boy
And tears boy
And all in your innerspace boy
You had
hands girl boy
and steel boy
You had chemicals boy
I've grown so close to you
Boy and you just groan boy
She said comeover comeover
She smiled at you boy.

Drive boy dog boy
Dirty numb angel boy
In the doorway boy
She was a lipstick boy
She was a beautiful boy
And tears boy
And all in your innerspace boy
You had
hands girl boy
and steel boy
You had chemicals boy
I've grown so close to you
Boy and you just groan boy
She said comeover comeover
She smiled at you boy.

Let your feelings slip boy
But never your mask boy
Random blonde bio high density rhythm
Blonde boy blonde country blonde high density
You are my drug boy
You're real boy
Speak to me and boy dog
Dirty numb cracking boy
You get wet boy
Big big time boy
Acid bear boy
Babes and babes and babes and babes and babes
And remembering nothing boy
You like my tin horn boy and get
Wet like an angel
Derail

You got a velvet mouth
You're so succulent and beautiful
Shimmering and dirty
Wonderful and hot times
On your telephone line
And god and everything
On your telephone
And in walk an angel

And look at me your mom
Squatting pissed in a tube-
hole at Tottenham Court Road
I just come out of the ship
Talking to the most
Blonde I ever met
Shouting
Lager lager lager lager
Shouting
Lager lager lager lager
Shouting...
Lager lager lager
Shouting
Mega mega white thing
Mega mega white thing
Mega mega white thing
Mega mega
Shouting lager lager lager lager
Mega mega white thing
Mega mega white thing
So many things to see and do
In the tube hole true
Blonde going back to Romford
Mega mega mega going back to Romford
Hi mom are you having fun
And now are you on your way
To a new tension
headache

Insomnia by miles but I would have had a couple of Massive Attack tunes in there for good measure. 'Unfinished Symphony' and 'Teardrop' are as good as it gets.

Agreed, Marshy. They aren't anywhere near old skool either, wasn't Born Slippy released in 97 or summat and Insomnia can't have been much earlier?

I'm pretty sure anything 'old skool' would have a releae date of 94 or earlier. This is the case with jungle anyway.

???

Id put old skool firmly in the early 90's the peak probably being 1992 though many favorites after that. Prodigy, Altern8, Praga Khan. Marvellous scenes. execpt for Jaydee's Plastic Dreams, nearly everthing in the contest seemed to be 96-97. Id put Born Slippy at 1996 and Insomnia slightly older at 95

Not old skool as has been said but if I have to vote Faithless every time Born slippy does not even compare it is more of a novelty track surely.

Old skool I thought was kinda pre 1992 going back to 1988 and the baleric stuff and Acid/happy house but then I suppose that it all depends on your age and I think I may have just revealed a clue to mine!

Totally. Moby - Go (Twin Peaks Rainforest Mix), Prodigy - Charlie Says, Praga Khan - Injected With a Poison, Bassheads - Is There Anybody Out There?, Altern8, some of the stuff on XL Recordings....too bolloxed at the time to remember all the rest

Oooh I thought I was the only one who remember that!! I found my copy the other day :)

Marvellous :clap2: :clap2:

Yeah, I thought I was the only one too. It's not a great record, but I was feeling so Euphoric on the night of hearing it that I thought it was the dogs and rushed out and bought it the next day.

Falmer, soon...
halcyon days indeed

Was at lashed in London a few weeks back and In the middle of one of the hard house sets, they dropped 'out of space' Fantastic stuff.

I'd wholeheartedly recommend the sets of Andy Whitby and also
Ben Stevens

both are 'kin ace.
