To be honest you are both right and wrong. There have been a number of defections from UKIP to the BNP over the past, most notably the BNP's candidate in Bognor Regis (I think?) Andrew Moffatt.

However, there is also a substantial number of UKIP members that would have nothing to do with the BNP. For example one of the closest advisers to Nigel Farage, is one Mark Croucher, who is also a contributor to Searchlight.

UKIP like most parties contains different factions, the only thing that truly unites them is their opposition to the EU. But in the main I would describe them as an repository for Colonel Blimps, blue rinsed old ladies and muttering curmudgeons of all ages, whose activism consists of moaning about the loss of Empire over a large pink gin in a private hotel on the south coast.
