FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
The warranty on my Current car the " Family" Vectra, is coming to an end shortly, and the wife has given me the nod that a replacement car is a goer as it were.
Also should i trade in the Vectra or sell Privately ?

Im looking for something still of a decent size as the son still needs to be moved around etc, but something that is that little bit sexier than the Vectra....not hard i know...

Not being much of a car expert i am asking the guidance of NSC.

Any suggestions, I have a budget of around 10k.

Cheers

Marshy

Dont think the Mini is going to do the job Maxwell !
I agree very nice though, but a bit small.

Audi A4 sounds good, prefer the A3 i think, surely i can get a pretty decent one of those for 10k.

What ever you do don't get a peugeot, they start to seriously fall apart after 3 years!

yes mate you could get a pukka A3 for 10k - if you can stretch another couple of grand you could pick up a gorgeous S3!!

Go for a suburu wrx. Great little family car that you can have fun in as well. 0 - 60 in 5 sec.

The A3 is nice but it's also pricey. You can get a lot more for your money if you look at other makes.
Skoda and SEAT are basically Volkswagons so you get german quality for less money. The Octavia VRS or Leon Cupra do the business.

Mazda 6, should be able to get one of them for around 10k now.

drive well, rocksolid reliability, good image.

had a toyota avensis, not sexy but did have sat nav and was happy with it until some fuckwit drove into the back of it at speed!

now own a 5 yr old bmw 318 coupe, nice to drive but not a great car.

dont get french cos they're usually shit.

I enjoyed my Lexus IS200 before I upgrade to the RX300.

You should get one easily for 10K.

A Great car, excellant accessories, nice smooth 6 cylinder engine with reasonable performance and good re-sale value.

we've got the new mondeo, 2.5 V6 Zetec S Estate, black, 18" alloys, looks the nuts, goes and handles bloody well, tows my race car, its massive inside and has been 100% reliable, cheapish to run and you should get a 2002 one for £10k

or you could alternatively have 1/2 of a MK1 Cortina race car, spacious inside, massive boot, but 10 MPG, 4" ground clearance, and only 1 seat might not be too practical for everyday use :lolol:
