Saints have today released winger Neil McCann by mutual consent.
The Scottish international has asked to have his contract terminated and the club have reluctantly agreed.
There is no word on what he plans to do now or whether there is any other club waiting in the wings.
It is thought the 31-year-old has grown frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities on the south coast and now plans to kickstart his career elsewhere.
McCann was signed by Gordon Strachan for £1.5m in August 2003 but has struggled to hold down a regular starting slot.
His time here has been dogged by niggling injuries and he missed Saturday's FA Cup victory over MK Dons with a virus and an ankle problem.
Wouldn't want us to sign a crock but worth a look surely.
