If an "unexciting" candidate like Gannon is appointed then don't despair. Just after Christmas, Oxford United appointed as manager the virtually unknown Chris Wilder, on the basis of work that he'd done at Halifax years ago, since when United have won 9 out of ten games. Oxford fans were not overwhelmed by the appointment of Wilder, but he's moving the club in the right direction.
