Mr Bigger - hated match official

In the days when referee's assistants were called linesmen, and when Brighton & Hove Albion played their football at The Goldstone Ground, I recall that there was a lino called Mr Bigger. He was truly shockingly bad and the few times he came down to Hove he always seemed to side with the opposition. We gave him hell from the East Terrace. Does anyone else remember him?

So, no matter how poor the ref was on Saturday, and no matter how much publicity refs get these days for their inept decisions, it's nothing new. The man in black has always taken a lot of flack.

Indeed. The fact that he's still remembered with venon 33 years after the infamous cup game (and about 15 years after he died) surely shows that he's won this particular contest hands-down.
