I want to write to a couple of MPs and can't see on the Parliament website how they should be addressed.

The Honourable?

Right Honourable for a Minister?

Do I need to put stamps on items being sent?

I tried finding this info on the Parliament website but frankly couldn't be bothered wading through all of the stuff on there....somebody on here will know;)

Thanks

If you know they are in the Privvy Council, they are to be addressed as:

'Rt Hon Sir Bufton Tufton MP', if not then it's simply 'Sir Bufton Tufton MP, Then the letter is 'Dear Bufton'.

Thanks for that....now to get 'em finished.

You do need to stamp the letter.

Stamping on the MP is optional.

"Dear Norman" doesn't seem quite right to me.

The only thing I'd send Norman through the mail would be well fermented dog turds so 'Dear Norman' wouldn't be necessary....I think he'd guess he's not dear to me:lolol:

Privy councillors, by the way, are all cabinet ministers, former cabinet ministers, and leaders of the opposition.

So Rt Hon Michael Portillo MP
Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP

but

Ivor Caplin MP (he's been a minister but not in the cabinet).

You get the drift.
