The greatest "commercial" (i.e. not Shoah) film about the Holocaust ever made, a masterpiece based on first hand experience which is neither exploitative or inappropriately slushily sentimental, unlike certain Hollywood offerings on the same subject.

It reminded me of those low-budget history drama's we had to watch at school, vast chunks of dialogue are just explaining what's been happening in a very artifical way
