LIVE LOG: Sussex Police response to unrest
09 August 2011
LATEST UPDATES:
3.39pm: Public events. All planned public events are proceeding as planned, but people wishing to attend should contact the event organisers for the latest information.

3.36pm: There are still rumours circulating regarding potential problems in London Road, but these relate to a London Road in south London, not in Brighton.

2.48pm: Same goes for businesses in other areas of Sussex. Where police are out and about around the shops, it is to reassure shopkeepers that these are just rumours. However, officers are also happy to offer security advice to shopkeepers if they want it.

2.00pm: Rumours of businesses being asked to close early in Brighton are untrue and business is continuing as normal. Please follow this webpage or Sussex_Police for the latest updates.

Hope they don't close the Co-op in Southwick Square - I've got to get a few bits in.

Get moving-still daylight,stay on the road & don't stray far-take a torch just in case,to buy a little time.

What IDIOTS confused London Road, Croydon with London Road, Brighton?

Honestly, you would think some people don't know there is a world outside Brighton.

Shut on police and head office advice apparantly.

Does not seem to be kicking off anywhere mind...

As have the stores in Sutton, Wimbledon and Mitcham; our son's an asst manager at Mitcham and he's just finished driving some staff home so they get there safe. Just spoken to him on the phone and these branches has been wanting to close since this morning - seems like a some management paralysis at M's HQ in Bradford.
