Millwall Warning: Don't arrive with a full bladder (serious)

Earlier this season, an away fan was forced to wet himself outside the ground after not being allowed to go to the toilet

I can't post the link but loads of threads about it on both Millwall forums.

"The South London press have reported that Millwall are being asked to speak with police and stewards to review procedures outside the ground after a complaint following an incident at their first evening fixture of the season. A visiting supporter was made to join a police escort after getting off the train and taken along a walkway to the ground where supporters were made to wait until sufficient numbers had gathered to be taken to the turnstiles.

A 29-year old man had pleaded that he was desperate for the toilet when at the station but having been made to comply with the procedures, he was unable to wait and suffered the humiliation of wetting himself in the queue at the turnstiles - in front of his eight-year old son, who was with him."

do they still gather you after the match and heard you onto the train even if your cars parked 200yds from ground without a choice in the matter

According to a Millwall-supporting work colleague, they've stopped that practice although they still take you back to the station but just don't herd you onto the train itself. So you can make your own way back from the station if necessary.

Luxury compared to Pompey - they have so called 'WCs' at Fratton Park in the away fans end but you emerge wetter than before you went in because of piss overflowing everywhere. £30 for the privilege. Very third world, but maybe a good metaphor for that traditional old ground.

A Police escort from where? South Bermondsey? All you do is walk down the station platform down the steps and take a right turn into Cowards Walk - cannot see where they'd hold you as no home fans are allowed in Cowards Walk, would it be on the station platform itself? I'm confused..........

To be fair I was part of the hundred or so Albion fans that were detained before the Palace game by the police. They shut the pubs down the road coming out of the station and I was four pints to the good by this point and bursting. I offered a bouncer £20 to let me have a piss and he refused. Thankfully, after giving a very hurried and shaky interview into their nice cameras I managed to make it to the station where I spent the best 20p of my life and managed to urinate for about 15 minutes.

The police simply don't have sympathy for people that really need the toilet, the smug sober bastards.

You offered £20 for a piss!!??

You're joking!

I wish I was. I'd rather pay £20 than piss myself in front of watching police and Brighton/Palace fans. Thankfully it didn't come to that, but it was bloody close, I can tell you.

I pleaded with the policewoman nearest me and she just laughed at me.

As a Londoner it's always useful to make sure at these games you are carrying your "London Passport" the Oyster Card.

This helps somewhat in convincing the authorities at London Bridge that you do not want to board the train to Brighton, however attractive it may be by the seaside.

I usually get the the train at south at Bermondsey (rather than North to LB) to Clapham High Street and avoid the humiliation of having to go all "Apples and Pears" at LB.

I did once have to go all Apples and Pears at Selhurst Park and I'm not doing it again. Didn't have to do it at the last Millwall game because I with Dandyman. He fooled everyone by leaning on a lamp post.

There is an alternative way to the ground from Brighton which may or not make sense depending on the connections. You get a train from Clapham Junction to Battersea Park, the change there for South Bermondsey.

The last train taking 17 mins and not that regular but depending on where/when you are coming from.

But the 18:36 from CJ > BP > SB would get to there at 19:02

Catching the 18:08 from CJ would get you there by 18:31.

Last time we played Millwall, the Friday night game, they herded us into the station and then caged us off. Then by the time I persuaded the coppers to open the gate as I live near the Den and wanted to walk home, there was a hoard of Lions fans right up against the gate. Had to walk through a huge crowd of them, my jacket just about covering my blue and white stripes! Bit dodgy!

You should have lobbed it out and pissed on her shoes.

Got to say I agree. If a policewomen had laughed at me and I really needed to go. No option offered. I'd have shouted at the top of my voice, explained the situation clearly, and that if nobody helped in the next minute and gave me that option, I would be forced to piss on whatever was infront of me as the very last resort. Few hundred witnesses. But I'm not very body concious so fairly sure would actually do it rather than the worst happen.

LOL I reckon most of us would love to be brave enough to follow your suggestion. Not sure many would, though.

You have to feel a bit sorry for the bloke in the original story though. He had his little kid with him so I suppose his behaviour had to be slightly less confrontational than it might have been if he had just been with his mates.
