Played my first football at the Mile Oak rec .... next to the old landfill!!!
The catchment for a Mile Oak team must be limited .... unless they take from the entirity of Valley Road as well!!!

blimey The Sticks has its own thread! I often venture north of the border to visit friends & godson, gets cold though, have to scrape the ice off the car when I leave but its lovely coming back over into warmer Southwick then the promised land of Shoreham :lolol:

Does anyone know the origin of the name Mile Oak?

I've heard 2 stories:

1. Named after a large Oak tree that stood roughly 1 Mile from Portslade (old) Village.

2. Some sort of mile long race that used to be run along what became Mile Oak Road.

I've never lived there but in late60's/early 70's I had lots of mates in Mile oak and went to some great parties.Can I be a guest member?

Valley Road is no-mans land really ..... neither Mile Oak nor Portslade ... so as we need to fill the top deck .....
