Middlesborough away - Thinking of Flying?

A lot fannying about.

A single flight from Stanstead to Newcastle = £11.60
A coach from Newcastle to Middlesbrough = £4.50
A coach from Middlesbrough to Brighton = £32.50

Coach is quite a bit but it leaves at midnight. So no costs on accomodation!

I have a friend up there so if I say I'm coming up, she might let me stay at hers.

I don't often go to League Cup games, but that one's tempting.

I'd advise against flying to Newcastle for the Boro game. Newc airport is a 25 minute Metro ride from Newcastle Central, then there'd be a 50 minute train ride to Middlesbrough. Teesside airport (please note: there are two Ss in Teesside) is much closer.

Are there no flights back from Teesside to Gatwick on the night?

Even if there are they won't be cheaper than the coach direct to Brighton.

We have Hartlepool on the 27th. The saturday after the midweek game. It would be nice to stay up there but don't think I can afford that. Looks like one or the other.

If you do go up there, if possible I would avoid staying in Smogglesborough. I went up there in June for England v Slovakia and it is a dump (and that is buying nice about the place). However on the river outside the ground there is one of those boats (like the Tuxedo in Newcastle) which is a bar, so you can get absolutely hammered and then crawl to the away end.
