Milton Keynes Dons FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Karl Robinson as the Club's new manager.

Karl, 29, has agreed a 12-month rolling contract and becomes the youngest manager in the Football League, taking on full-time first team duties with immediate effect.

Robinson makes the step up from assistant manager, having acted as number two under the departing Paul Ince this season.

He has appointed the vastly-experienced former England coach John Gorman to the role of assistant manager, with Alex Rae retaining his position as first team coach.

Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman said: "Karl is a young man with enormous ambition that has the talent, the enthusiasm and the maturity to build on the momentum our Club is building.

Karl Robinson, John Gorman and Alex Rae will make up the new MK Dons management team.

"His coaching credentials and reputation within the game are already well-established and his appointment provides us with some much-needed continuity in terms of team development, player identification and recruitment.

"He believes in the ambition of this Football Club and is passionate about continuing to help us move forward."

Karl, John and Alex will be presented to the media at stadiummk on Monday afternoon.

Blimey, and I thought recruiting ridiculously young, unknown managers was only reserved for Football Management games.

Good luck, he'll need it.

The only one I can think of used to play for Wolves and is WELSH.

Can't believe he's only 29, though.

He now plays in the MLS for New York Red Bulls.

This could well be a decent appointment, after all there are some good managers around that haven't played or had rubbish careers. As long as he can gain the respect of the professionals, which presumably he already has as assistant manager, he may well be a good appointment.

Sounds like a cheap appointment, follows from why Ince left due to cuts in playing budget

Isn't he that guy that gatecrashes sporting events, like getting into the Man U photo at some European game once? Good work, if he's blagged his way into the MK Dons hotseat!!

How many of the top flight managers actually had decent playing careers?

Ancelotti
Mancini
Zola
Allardyce
Dowie
Laws
McCarthy
Bruce
McLeish
O'Neill
Coyle
Redknapp
Moyles

In fact Wenger, Ferguson, Benitez, Hodgson and maybe Pulis are probably the only ones you could argue, didn't.
