Sounds to me like he was quite interested but not happy with the money

This is a guy who doesn't want 150 million new people to hear his music because he's not getting quick money for it.

Barely a musician, more of a shite capitalist.
Maybe. To be honest, I found it amusing, but I'm no economist.

If you knew Martin you would know he is not a capitalist

Absolutely fair play, but his song wasn't even the best early 80s track called Temptation. Maybe New Order could step in.

Fair enough. But he just published a post on Twitter where he whines about not getting enough money for something that would introduce a new generation to his music. But maybe he secretly feels the music has nothing to say to the younger generation and that's the real reason he's opting out.
I don't know; comes across as very interested in money from the one thing (the tweet in this post) I've seen him express.

UPDATE: Apparently it was $7500 for each of the three writers. Still p1ss-poor though.
Taking the £8.6bn gross for GTAV in his tweet at face value, if they paid $7500 to 3 song writers for 400 songs, that works out to $9milion, or just over 0.1% of the money they make from the game.

Presumably they intend to blow the other 99.9% on hookers and cocaine and incredibly detailed car exhaust animations.

I don't think socialist aren't interested in money, socialists are interested in the fair distribution of money. Seems like he thinks one song is worth more than 0.000001% of future earnings.

Maybe a few seconds of research, before posting, would have calibrated your opinion of him.

It does seem he puts a massive value on his work yes. Not enough getting paid £7500k to do nothing and get 100-200 million new listeners.

His choice. A yes meant money and exposure, a no means no money and no exposure. He went with the latter and thats fine, but not sure why he's making a thing out of it. There will be others gladly taking the money and the opportunity to get their music/messages heard.

I have him on ignore but wasn't our Swedish Potter stalker only allowed back on the condition he was only to comment on football threads?

After a few minutes of research, he does seem like a sensible lad, which makes it even odder that he doesn't want to be heard. Or maybe he's just too antique - despite seemingly doing experimental stuff - to know how to reach younger generations with what he has to say.

Anyway, like I said - his choice and I'm sure he'll have a bunch of people born in the 40s-60s patting his back over letting his music die with them.

Its hardly a banger anyway and I'm unlikely to ever play the game... so whatever.

From my pov just a fun topic to discuss from various commercial and philosophical angles (in which this decision seems mostsorts of dumb and shortsighted as I see it), but people are quite clearly keen on getting emotionally involved in everything they can get their hands on. Thus no more comments on this from on this apparently sensistive subject, people will have to find something else to be upset about.

I assumed this was harmless enough for people not to be able to get their daily injection of upsetness but was wrong and will stay out of it.

I understand where he is coming from, however, a lot of 80's songs i refused to listen to as a kid because they were 'old' until Vice City came out. I then listened to a lot of that music and finally decided to listen to Blondie , Iron Maiden etc
