Mark Yeates: Spurs perspective

Spurs fan here.

I've read that a few of you are a bit sceptical about
signing Mark Yeates on a month's loan. No need. I'm confident that he'll
prove a big hit at the Withdean.

QPR wanted him on loan at the beginning of the season and Ian Holloway
was very disappointed that he got injured in his last pre-season game
for Spurs.

Whichever Spurs fan said that Jamie Slabber is the best prospect at
Spurs doesn't actually know what he's talking about. Slabber will never
make it at the top level. I've seen him often enough. Trust me. Mark
Yeates is the best attacking prospect at the club. The best since Glenn
Hoddle, in most good judges' opinion. That's not to say that he'll be as
good as Glenn, or anywhere near. Then again, there's no shame in that.

Secondly, although he can play in most attacking positions, he's not
really a striker. His best position is in the hole. If he was to be a
striker, it would very much be in the Robbie Keane mould. He's nippy,
has two good feet, dribbles well, is an excellent passer and has an eye
for goal. He's smallish but quite pugnacious. He's also not exactly a
shy lad. Does a lot of talking on the pitch. Full of confidence.

Best of luck with him. Hope it works out for club and player.

P.S. Bobby Z still needs a bit of time to adjust but you can't fault his
attitude and effort. I'm sure the goals will come.

Just to clarify, when I say "best attacking prospect at the club since Glenn Hoddle", I meant one who has come through the youth ranks.

Otherwise he'd be rated higher than any attacking player at the club since the early 70's! That would be going a bit far. I don't think he'll be as good as Gazza!

Trust McGhee I say. The guy seems to know what he's doing. Let's just see who Tony Adams gets in for Wycombe...

Got something similar from a FootyMad poster, and it looks like a season long loan could be a real possibility

"I think it is more of a case of if McGhee is impressed then he will stay for the season. Don't believe what I say, let Yeatsie do the talking. I just hope you can give him some faith as I am positive this will be re-imbursed."

Paxton,

what do you reckon to the rumour that Spurts were paying Zamoras wages last season with the obvious view to a transfer to Spurts only, at the end of the year?

Yeates looks quite strong which is important as we've lost some physical battles this season. Since the retirement of Paul Rogers and the sale of Andy Crosby(a much better player than Butters), we've been a bit lightweight.

Tottenham news: Best talents out on loan.

By Gary Beaumont

No I am not talking about Mrs Redknapp but youth prospects Mark Yeates and Jonnie Jackson. Both Yeatsie and Jacko have been in great form for our reserves recently and now is the time for them to prove they can do it in a more competitive environment.

Mark Yeates is going to Brighton & Hove Albion and hopefully will form a formidable partnership with Leon Knight. Jonnie Jackson on the other hand goes to Coventry and hopefully will show Gary McAllister & Division 1 the amazing progress that he has made over the last 2 years. JJ is the sort of player who leads by example and tends to be at the centre of everything. Yeatsie is a talent; he started off as an attacking midfielder but was put upfront to improve on his finishing and movement. However rather than moving back to his usual attacking midfield position he has made a name for himself as a striker and it will be interesting to see where Mark McGee plays him.

"attacking midfielder" sounds good...

Sorry. I couldn't say. First I've heard of it.

I think it's very unlikely, though.

Spurs are not exactly known for....ahem, their charity.

Apart from on the pitch, of course.

Oh, and there's no "t" in Spurs. ;)
