MARK MCGHEE - coolest man in WITHDEAN

We saw the clock - 16 minutes to go, having created next to f*** ALL in the second half, apart from greatest miss of the season from the skipper.

Xmas misery descending on us all.

Every high-pitch girly GAY voice in the ground mincing out "bring on Jake Robinson, bring on Jake Robinson, I want to look at his pretty legs".

The BIG MAN in the dug-out KEPT THE FAITH in HIS team.

We saw the Stan Ternant masterplan to keep 'em up - turn Gills into a defensively tight, hit-and-hope, long-ball team, little play-making Hessie banished to the bench the bench, instead keep on some big goons to kick every ball out of their own half and steal a goal.

Credit to Gills - it almost worked, they defended as well as many of the big teams that have visited here but they were finally undone by a bit of class.

We've all wondered where it was coming from once we got rid of Currie.

But Chippy today turned back the clock a year - he was our gamebreaker ON SO MANY OCCASIONS last season - and cometh the hour, cometh the man.

What a fantastic goal - THAT'S THE GOAL THAT WILL KEEP US UP - YOU SAW IT TODAY :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

It could have been all so different.

How many chances did we have early on - carbon copy of ther Stoke game. And then we lose another SHIT goal, Kuipers :nono:

But McGhee took two steps backward to take the vital step forward.

The reversion to 4-4-2 with Jonah and OGH back on the wing on gave us that solidity in midfield that eventually wore down overwhelmed the Gills, as it did on so many occasions last season even though it looked scrappy.

WHAT A LAST 15 MINUTES :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

We won EVERY 50-50 ball, every clearance, every lunge, every tackle. Sheer GUTS and CHARACTER.

But it needed the class of Chippy - what a long-shot genius :clap2: :clap2:

Then you saw our much-maligned forward duo win us the game, Mac flick, Virgs finish - give 'em credit, they worked their arses off those pair. They won't score many goals, neither are natural goalscorers, but you can bet every goal will be VITAL ones :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

What a day. I'm already f***ing half-cut and now I'm off to finish the job.

On such a high and I don't even have to listen to those whingeing fecking tossers on the phone-in to bring me down.

WE ARE STAYING UP :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

22 POINTS TO GO :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

SALUTE YOUR TEAM :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Never mind the cliche of a game of two halves. This was a game of three thirds! First third: we looked comfortable enough, creating a fair few chances only for some schoolboy defending to leave Crofts with a free header. After that, we totally lost the plot with the familar routine of aimless long balls. Then 'our' very own caravan dweller from Kent hit the sweetist of shots from outside the area that was only ever going to finish in the back of the net. The final third of the game saw Gillingham totally lose their heads and composure as we ran them ragged. There was only going to be one winner from then and it came two minutes from the end. A nifty flick fromm McCammon set up Virgo for the winner. Many around me were moaning about McCammons ability today. I disagree. Sure, he has the touch of a carthorse at times but in the two games he's played we've looked far more threatening up front thanks to his physical presence. Gary Hart deserves a mention. He worked his arse off today and looked back to his old self. Another old cliche of "todays game being a six pointer" really was true today. Todays win gives us a foundation to build on. As long as we keep pinching the odd win and draws here and there, we'll be fine.

I don't think calling everyone who wanted Jake to come on gay is really fair. Aside from the flick, I was not impressed by McCammon (first time I've seen him) - Jake on the other hand is pacey, moves well and has an eye for goal. Plus MM was just about to bring him on when we scored the winner, but then wisely decided to keep the two target men on to hold the ball up and waste time.

McGhee done good. When reverting to 4-4-2 he had to take off either Carpenter or Nicolas. Oatway as captain would stay on. Nicolas is a great player but Carpenter scored the equaliser. Then Jakey.. okay we were creating very little but would he have made a big impact? Hard to tell but I personally don't think he'd have helped us. McGhee sticks with and Yee Hee. :jester:

I thought that both our forwards lacked a bit of pace, and playing two target men seems a little strange really. Especially as both are used to being the target man, not necessarily recieving service from one. I think Leon's pace and trickery would have really worried Gillingham today, as to a lesser extent would Jake as he does have excellent movement which against colassal lumps like their defenders would've been very handy.

Having said that, MM did what he thought was right and we won, so that's fine by me!

:rave:

Ternant helped us enormously by bringing on Henderson.

:lolol:

With nothing to worry about at the back, we were able to concentrate on moving forward and creating the chance that gave us the winning goal.

But from what I saw from sitting behind the dug out Mcgoo was just about to bring Jake on and Booker even gave the change to the fourth official just before Chippy smashed a little belter into the onion bag. Kind of screws up your theory LI

Jake was definately coming on - they'd indicated to the forth official - I saw that as well.

hehe

There is so much pent up aggression and frustration (source unspecified although I could hazard a guess) in London Irish's post, it is comical.

WHAT??!!!!

Are you implying that the frustration and rage I vent while watching football offers a substitute for some kind of sexually dysfunctional relationship I have with my girlfriend?

WRONG AGAIN Baby NSP – my large collection of gay S&M porn does that - get your facts right, you stupid boy!
