Happened like 25 years ago, a little group of lads about early twenties were massively outnumbered by a group of vermin, they got chased into the sea (knee deep) and thats where the chant swim away comes from.

I wasn't aware of the swim away story before reading this. Their fans behind the goal nearest us had the right hump with him as he tussled with Earnshaw in the box during a couple of their corners. Then I thought a couple of strong challenges in the second half from Painter on top of this was what really got the fans upset. I had no idea that he'd done this swim away thing. Always funny when a player gives some of it back to the fans I think, regardless of the club.
